For those who know The Sustainable Studio history, we love a clothes swap, we built our brand on them so when The Monday Club approached us to host 'Swap Shop' we said 'YES'
Clothes swapping is an amazing way of donating items you no longer wear and getting other items in return, not only does it help reduce textiles to landfill but helps your pocket too! The premise is simple, bring four items, walk away with four new items from other people.
We also added a little bit of the TSS touch and had a hack table led by the incredible Cardiff Met fashion graduates, Aspire, Briana and Shakira who helped transformed people's 'new' garments in to up-fashion heaven.
We were treated to a catwalk by USW Fashion graduate and ethical fashion designer Jayne Byrne of Alethea Design with her amazing 'IKONA COLLECTION'. Jayne showed her collection in London during Graduate Fashion Week and was shortlisted for a Dame Vivienne Westwood Sustainable and Ethical Award.
The models showed off her incredible sustainable and ethical garments made from reclaimed waste and post consumer waste fabrics such as bicycle inner tubes. Models were supplied by Rhed Model Management.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended and made the event so special, especially Cath and Narelle from The Monday Club for inviting us to be part of this fantastic event. Also to our incredible volunteers who ran the cake and drinks bar, hack table and just helped us so much!
