At the end of October we launched our second floor with a party to showcase pod city and The Canteen area to our studio members, friends, family and invited guests.
The pods were designed by students from the University of South Wales from a brief and were constructed in four months. As always, we wanted the pods to have a sustainability element at the core of the design so they can be easily taken down and reassembled if needed and are flexible and let natural light in.
We've also transformed the floor by adding new toilets, a communal living area and dining and kitchen space called 'The Canteen' which is available for hire.
Since building we have increased our membership and added even more multi talented and skilled people to our community.
Guests were treated to creole feast by Herman Valentin and awesome music from Nathan Jones aka Liboco DJs.
Julia and Sarah said: "It has been an incredible 18 months so far and we were so excited to share our new spaces with people. Being able to expand and have more creative people in our community was our ultimate goal and we've gained brilliant new members.
We've also got our event space which has meant we can offer a range of events for the community including yoga, live music, exhibitions and dance workshops. Art should be accessible to all and we are dedicated to developing and supporting that.
We'd like everyone who contributed to and supported the Crowdfunder to make this second floor possible, we couldn't have done it without you".
Thanks to Ben Blyth for the awesome photography and being kind in the editing process.
If you'd like to join our community we have two small pods available on the first floor - contact us for more information.
